Our Chapter in Action

* - In March the chapter was contacted by officials from the Henderson Elementary School in Chicago, in regards to a donation to pay for two buses to bring some inner city students out to Aurora, Illinois to visit the Sci-Tech museum. This museum is hands on with many interactive displays that have proven to be very popular with children in grades K-8. The Chapter donated two hundred dollars, and received recognition from the school. Some of the children who attended, had never been outside the City of Chicago, and according to the teachers enjoyed the experience.

* - The Chapter also made a $200.00 donation to the Aurora Sundowners Track Club. This 34 year old Club is made up of boys and girls ages 5- 17, who participate in track meets all over the Midwest. In addition to being staffed by volunteer coaches, the Aurora Sundowners Track Club is also one of the oldest in the nation. A copy of a thank you letter from the head coach of this organization was shared with the membership.

* - In March the chapter was active in facilitating a candidates forum for officials running for County and Statewide offices prior to the primary elections. This forum was conducted by the Reverend Roy Brown at his church (Progressive Baptist), in Aurora, Illinois on March 10th 2002. The forum was held in the afternoon, following a sermon by the Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. The forum was well attended, and NOBLE was recognized as being in the audience.

* - Our chapter put on a very successful golf outing which will benefit their scholarship fund. This outing took place on June 13th, at the Hughes Creek golf Course, 1749 Spring Valley Drive, in Elburn, Illinois. Visit our link with pictures from the golf outting.

* - On September 14th, 2002 our chapter held the third annual Dinner Dance Scholarship Fundraiser. The keynote speaker was the Honorable Senator Emil Jones Jr., Illinois Senate Democratic Leader. Entertainment was provided by "Detour". Check out their newly released CD entitled "Detour Jazfunk".  Wilbert Walters was recognized for contributing over 34 years of service to our communities youths (visit our "History Makers" page). Also $3000 in scholarships were awarded to four college bound students.

* - December 2002 - Our local Chapter distributed over 20 winter coats to needy children. We also would like to thank Wal-Mart located in West Plaza Shopping Center, Aurora, for their continued support in our winter coat drive.

* - August 2003 - our Chapter held a scholarship fundraiser golf outing.

 * - In December of 2003 our Chapter made a $300 contribution to C. F. Simmons Middle School in Aurora towards their efforts to raise $50,000 to fund educational field trips for their students.

A reminder...Membership is open to civilians, law enforcement, corrections, educators, firefighters, in other words... anyone!

* - Our 2003 coat drive fundraising efforts were very successful. We raised over $2000 which was ALL used to purchase coats, hats & gloves for needy children throughout Kane and DuPage County.

Members of the Northern Illinois Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) responded to Simmons Middle Schools recent newspaper article requesting donations to assist in their academic efforts. Our chapter made a $300 contribution, the first they have received, towards their goal of raising $50,000. We encourage everyone to not only make a contribution but also become involved in your schools PTA or PTO.
